Draft Review

Abby: A perennial high-draft pick and deservingly so. She didn’t have her best day, but the floor is still quite high. A great outfielder, and a solid power hitter. Still a top player.

Yada: An impressive hitter, and she can play the infield a bit when she needs to. With four hits on the day, she did exactly fine. I don’t think she should be this high of a pick until the consistency is there, but the potential certainly is.

Beau: He had a pretty good showing. It took Beau a bit to get anything going, but he came through big in the end with two homeruns in the championship game. Including, a walk-off home run to win the game when tied at 14. Draft highly.

Brian: He was a bit streaky at points, but he proved he was one of the best players out there. He dialed in towards the end and had an insane game in the championship. He went 6-7, with three homeruns, and 11 RBIs. He also had a phenomenal outing on defense as well. First pickable.

Jeremy: An all-around solid player. The power was a bit lacking, but that was true for most yesterday. The balls were dying in the air if you weren’t crushing them. He made some nice plays in the outfield as well. High second-rounder seems about right for now.

Andrew: A newcomer to Wiffleball. He seemed like an athlete who has maybe played some ball before, but he was rusty at the very least. He could easily improve if he makes it out more, but he’s likely a later round pick at the moment.

Alli: Coming off a great performance in the last draft, it was going to be hard to live up to expectations. Her numbers weren’t quite what they were this past Sunday, but they were still totally reasonable. She’s still continuing to improve on both sides of the ball, and she’s undoubtedly one of the best players right now. Shouldn’t be on the board past high second-round.

Caro: Posting the most hits of any girl on the day, Caro continues to impress. Her defense could improve a bit, but with offensive numbers like her’s she should be getting picked up earlier.

Nickoli: He’s definitely in better shape in than anyone else out there. He could use a little bit of practice hitting though. Still, he managed to knock in seven runs on the day off of just seven hits. An above-average player with a lot of potential.

Debbi: Dakota’s 3rd round pick is the reason he’s still a captain. Driving in all five of their runs on the day with two homeruns, Debbi came through big for her team. I expect her to go higher next draft.

Nina: With six hits and two RBIs, Nina once again had a respectable day at the plate. If she continues to put up solid numbers on a consistent basis, she’ll start commanding a higher pick in the draft.

Traz: While stocking up on guys early can be risky, Traz is a steal at 12th. He a good showing at short, and was roping the ball after busting out of the slump he started in. Can’t ask for much more 12 hits, 7 RBIs, and 6 extra-base hits, out of your late third-rounder.

Ellen: She had a rough day. It happens. She swings hard, so she’s a little prone to strikeouts and mistakes, but she crushes it when she does make solid contact. Overall, she’s still a reasonable threat on offense.

Alyssa: A good player, but no-showing is brutal.

Christina: Despite being utterly befuddled by the rules throughout the entirety of the night, she actually did pretty well. Goes to show you that all you really need to know is how to swing the bat. With some more practice, she would likely be quite good.

Zoe: She swung hard. You can’t really ask for much more than that. She managed to rope a few, and she put up an above expectation performance for a new player.

Alex: She seems athletic and secretly made a few nice plays in the field. She, unfortunately, went hitless on the day though. I really do think that a quick lesson on how to swing could make her a completely different player.

Jesse: An unorthodox style, but you gotta commend the effort. His stats were fine, and there’s a lot of room for improvement.

Caroline: The steal of the draft, and the reason Team Mav won. Your 19th pick being the best performing girl on the day is a recipe for success. Taking new players is always a gamble, but you gotta risk big if you want to win big.

Lex: New players not showing up is a real rough one. Basically undraftable until actually making it out here now.

Harlee: She swung hard. Got a few hits.

Chelsea: It seemed like her first time playing, but she still managed to do fine. She was hitting the ball well and ripped a double at one point. Being a lefty is also nice because you occasionally get an advantage on some lazy defenses.

Tony: Not the best day, but he came through huge when it mattered.

Jessica: A small step back from Sunday, but she’s still improving. My expectations for here are still reasonably high. It will just take time and patience.
